Our companiesGerrit Reinders Sr. receives royal honor
On October 5, 1985, Gerrit Reinders Sr. was knighted by Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands into the Order of Oranje-Nassau. This honor, established on April 4, 1892, by Queen Regent Emma, recognizes significant contributions to society. Gerrit Reinders Sr. received this honor due to his substantial impact on industrial development in the east of the Netherlands.
His remarkable successes with The Reinders Corporation on a global scale earned him this prestigious recognition, a testament to his enduring legacy.
The Reinders Family expanding worldwide
During these years, global expansion took place. Our products and high-tech machines were delivered to countries including the United States, Russia, Australia, China, and many others. Innovation became a top priority, and our projects grew increasingly ambitious. The Reinders Corporation emerged as a global player and an industrial leader during this period.
Moving forward together
Decades of growth
After the Second World War, Europe was in the process of rebuilding, and the Reinders Corporation began delivering products to virtually every European country. This era saw the birth of several new companies within the wood, steel, heating, and energy industries.
First and Second World Wars
During the First and Second World Wars, the Reinders Corporation struggled to survive the global conflicts that impacted virtually every part of the world. These tough times demanded patience and resilience to preserve the business. The greatest lesson learned was the concept of mean reversion in business results: over time, great results can become mediocre, and poor results can improve. This period fostered our sustainable long-term mindset.
The beginning
In the 1890s, Klaas Reinders Sr., hailing from a blacksmith family with 11 employees, conceived the idea of producing heaters and stoves. By 1910, he began selling these in Almelo, the Netherlands. The late 19th century saw the textile industry emerge as a major economic force in the eastern Netherlands, attracting many new residents. This influx led to a significant increase in demand for heaters, spurring the expansion of the Reinders Corporation.
The KARA (Klaas Reinders Almelo) heaters were soon produced and distributed throughout the Netherlands. As the industry grew, so did the demand for industrial heating solutions.
Innovation became a cornerstone of the family business, leading to the development of larger and more powerful heaters. This commitment to quality gave rise to a distinguished line of products.
