Hogeschool Saxion

The refrigeration and freezing plant at Saxion is utilized by mechanical engineering students for practical training in heat transfer and energy engineering. The installation can cool and heat water and air and cool a glycol circuit to -25°C. It includes a buffer tank for hot and cold water, an evaporator in a freezing cell, and an air-cooled condenser.

Project stages: Consult, design and result

Enerdes climate control

1 Consult

Enerdes consulted with Saxion to understand the specific needs for a training setup that allows students to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings. This involved assessing the equipment and environmental requirements for effective learning.

Greenhouse Boiler Room

2 Design

Based on the consultation, Enerdes designed a comprehensive cooling system with a 7″ touch screen interface and Siemens PLC software. The system includes cooling, heating, and freezing capabilities, allowing students to perform various calculations and analyses related to energy consumption, heat transfer, and efficiency.

3 Result

The implementation of Enerdes’ cooling system has significantly enhanced the educational experience at Saxion. Students now have the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning with a state-of-the-art system, bridging the gap between theory and practice in heat transfer and energy engineering.
